It's time for me to update my blog. It has been quite some time since I posted here in May.

Exam was over and I will be getting my results tomorrow. That's not my likey :( I wasn't really sure with my papers and I'm not confident that I will score good results.

Well, forget about it for now. Holiday is coming !! We will be going to dad's place for one whole week. YAY I like to stay there with the chilling air at night and fresh breezy air in the morning. It's worth to take in a deep breathe after all those stress weeks. While in the evening, I can have a swim in the pool. That's fun! Mum said we may be going on a holiday to Cameron but I aren't sure about it. I hope to go there soon :)

There isn't any post about food but I will try to do so whenever I have the mood but not now =P

Frozen Yogurt of the day : Tutti Fruitti

Thanks to my aunt, I finally have a chance to taste what's a frozen yoghurt tastes like but honestly I do not find anything special about it other than its smoother and creamier texture than the normal ice cream. It tastes almost the same with McDonald's sundae, seriously. I like the white one the most, I guess it's vanilla but not the pinky and greyish one. I will not waste my money trying this again cause I will rather buy my favourite Chatime - Strawberry Pudding Au-Lait which costs RM6.90. :)

As you know, this so called korea most famous girls group SNSD is right here in Malaysia at this moment. Since yesterday, almost one quarter of my class was overjoyed and this xxxxxx jumped here and there like a kangaroo to celebrate. But not me, I hated Kpop because of this xxxxxx, she thought that she was a great fan of these Kpop singers and even stalk them. I can tell you that this is seriouly very annoying. She just show off how loyal she was as a fan but think twice, you are actually invading someone's privacy. If I am to be a fan, I will not do such thing like someone who is crazy. One more thing, these going to be crazy fans are all going to be packed like sardins at KLCC. You can imagine since the ticket is free, the fans all over Malaysia including those from the countries nearby will be rushing there. Some will even choose to camp there. Everyone has the same thinking, "since the ticket is free, why dont i go" but you will never have a chance to be in front of the stage because the crowd is going o be TREMENDOUSLY HUGE but not the ordinary big crowd. Pen off:)

Plain cookies taste nice! On Wednesday, my friends came over my house during the holidays and I decided to bake this along with them. It's typically the simplest of all but I doesn't like to bake it because you need to to roll it on a flat surface and cut it out with a cookie cutter. :( It's troublesome for me.

Plain Cookies (aka Star Cookies in the book) ( from Something Sweet - Cakes, Bakes, Desserts by Food Lovers )
Ingredients:
250g all-purpose flour
90g castor sugar
175g butter, cubed
12 candy-coated chocolate chips (M&M) (Instead of this, I used chocolate chips)

Method:

Heat the oven to 180'C
Put the flour, sugar and butter together in a processor and blend together to make crumbs, or put into a bowl and rub everything together with your fingertips. Pulse a little more to form into a ball, or squeeze the mixture together with your hands.
Turn the dough onto a sheet of parchment paper. Use a lightly floured rolling pin to roll out the dough to 0.5cm thickness.
Dip your 1ocm star cutter in flour and stamp out 10 star shapes, carefully removing the trimmings from around the sides, but leaving the cookies on the paper. Reroll the trimming to make 2 additional cookies and place on another parchment paper. ( You can actually use cookies cutter of any size or any shape to your favour :)
Place the dough, still on the parchment, onto 2 baking sheets. Press the candy into the center of each. Bake for 10 minutes until pale golden. Cool and store in airtight tin.

The Little Chef Diary : Bread and Butter Pudding

If you are finding something sweet easy to prepare after meal, you can't find any others that are more suitable than this. :) ~Bread and Butter Pudding *nom nom* ~

Bread and butter pudding (adapted from Min's Blog)
    2 slices of white bread spread with butter ( I used Massimo bread)
    25gm sugar
    1 egg
    150ml milk
    1/2 tsp vanilla extract
    Raisins or Cranberries ( I used cranberries)

1. Cut up the buttered bread is cubes and arrange in a ramekin.
2. Beat egg, milk and vanilla in a bowl.
3. Stir in raisins or cranberries
4. Pour the liquid mixture into the ramekin and let it sit for 15 minutes.
( I doesn't have ramekins so I used a cake mould )
5. Bake at 180'C for 20 minutes.

Hey. I'm back to update my blog with food again. :) Baking is just my hobby.
This is my first try on brownie, the result is "eatable" but taste bad actually. It's quite bitter and totally not to my favour. :( But on my second try, I changed the recipe slightly. The brownie was delicious *nom nom* and my friends like it too. It tastes best once I get it out from the oven. The top was crispy, and it's warm. The best part is that the chocolate was melting in my mouth.

FIRST TRIAL


I forgot that I have to leave it cool before cutting it and I get crumbs everywhere :(

Chocolate Walnut Brownie ( from Grace Kitchen Corner )

115g unsalted butter, softened, plus extra for greasing
120g caster sugar
2 eggs
40g plain chocolate (minimum 70% cocoa solids)
55g pecans or walnut
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 tsp instant coffee granules
2 tbsp warm water
1 tsp baking powder
55g plain flour
55g cocoa powder

Method:

Preheat the oven to 180C. Prepare the cake tin. Grease an 18cm/7in square cake tin and line with non-stick baking parchment.
In a clean bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until pale and fluffy. Beat in the eggs, one at a time.
Chop the chocolate and put to one side. Chop the pecans, if using. Gently fold the nuts and chocolate into the butter and egg mixture. Add the vanilla extract.
Dissolve the coffee granules in two tablespoons of warm water and add to the mixture. Mix together well.
Add the baking powder, then sift in the flour and cocoa powder. Mix well; the mixture will be quite wet.
Spoon the brownie batter into the prepared tin and level out the top with a spatula.
Bake in the oven for 30 minutes. Don't over bake, you may have a skewer insert into the cake and come out not clean.
Allow to cool in the tin for ten minutes, then place on a wire rack to cool.

Although exam is over and now the holiday is coming to an end. *Phew* Why is my life full of loads of work which I cant never finish doing. I still have to rush for three BM essays and one Chinese essays beofre school reopens but I have no idea how am I going to finish it. But, put this aside now and :)

Again , my blog is so dead because I'm just to busy and I dont even have the mood to update it. On Tuesday, I had a wonderful time with all my dear friends. And I learnt something: "Friends are forever! They are there for you no matter what." That's why I appreciate my friendships a lot when I grew older. I try not to break my friendship on a small matter because I cant lose my bunch of friends from my life.

I know my blog has been so dead for some time because I am too busy with school activities amd homework too. Just to update my blog with a quick post! It is sad to hear that Whitney Houston and a famous taiwanese singer, Feng Fei Fei had past away recently. I knew that Whitney Houston is famous but sad to say that I didnt listen to her song before but I have read abut her from the newspaper. She must be a great singer in those days whereas Feng Fei Fei was also famous in those days. I was really by her voice in the song "掌声响起来" . It was one of my favourite. I saw in the tv news that Adele got the most award in the Annual GRAMMY Awards! Congratulations Adele! She is one of my favourite singer after listening to the songs, Someone Like You and Rolling in The Deep. These are the best songs I have ever heard! Lastly, it is camp this week. Screw it! Haha, i told myself!

School starts!

As everyone knows school just reopens and I started to freak out, credits to all my "beloved" teachers. When the teachers first stepped in into our class, the first thing that was spitted out was "PMR". PMR definitely causes stress to me. When I heard that all Form 1 and Form 2 Geography are coming out for the first term exam, I was like I have no choice but to study. You can't omit it as everyone must go through it - I told myself. Stress is flowing like running water all over my body starting from the first day of school until now. I did not have spare time like maybe one hour to do whatever I like or even starring at things beacuse what immediately comes up to my mind is DO YOUR WORK!! I have tons of homework to do, from school teachers and tuitions as well. Oh my, 2012 is really, undeniable a hectic year.

Dear 2012, please be nice to me.

The Little Chef Diary : Muachi 麻糍

Forth post in one day! Muachi a.k.a 麻糍! This was also my all time favourite since I'm young. The stalls sold this at a really high price nowadays and I found it not worth to buy so I decided to try it out all by myself. It was so so yummy. My grandma said that it wont be that nice as the one sold outside because they added some kind of chemical -硼砂 so that it is easier to handle and wont be that sticky like mine.

麻糍 Muaci

材料与做法：-

1。糯米粉250g，清水375g，糖3汤匙，拌匀。

2。米浆倒入抹油盘子里，小火蒸40分钟即可。

3。蒸好放凉后，用汤匙挖出一小勺，丢进花生碎+白糖混合的沾料中，

让麻糍完全沾上花生碎即可。

4。调出一碗米浆（材料：糯米粉250g，清水375g，糖3汤匙混合拌匀）
5。7寸圆模型抹上一层薄薄的植物油。
6。锅子放在炉子上，大火煮滚那锅水。
7。模型放入蒸热一会～
8。把（1）调好的米浆，倒入模型内。
9。炉子火力关小（担心大火蒸，成品会粗糙）。
10。盖上锅盖，蒸个40分钟即可。
11。40分钟后，麻糍出炉咯～
12。准备花生粉和白糖（为麻糍沾料）
13。用汤匙挖出一勺麻糍
14。把麻糍丢进花生粉+白糖的沾料中
15。均匀的为麻糍裹上沾料


蒸熟的麻糍（其实我只蒸了20分钟，这可能导致我的成品没有那么咬筋）


花生碎和白糖 – 我把烘焙店买回来的无壳花生那去烘十分钟，抹一抹花生上的油在打碎


麻糍上座咯！！

Chinese New Year Cookies 3 : German Butter Cookies
Nom nom! This taste absolutely delicious. It is so soft that you may crushed it if you "dont handle it with care" but it taste yummy. I'm bored of last year butter cookies so I decided to try this out. This is best to be served as CNY cookies because it is suitable for young to old!

德国酥饼

A：牛油 250g ，糖粉 80g

B: 马铃薯粉 250g 面粉 100g 罂粟子少许

1. 把牛油和过筛的糖粉用搅拌机搅匀。
2. 加入马铃薯粉，面粉和罂粟子拌匀成面团。
3. 把面团揉成小粒，再用叉子稍微压扁。
4. 放进预热170'C 的烤箱烤15-20 分钟。

Chinese New Year Cookies 2 : Cornflake Cookies
Cornfalke Cookies!!! This is my favourite since I'm young but I had no idea what is so special about it to me. I just like cornflake with cookies so I eat cornflake cookies! (That lame) I made this since last year but it's a failure so I decided to try it again by changing some steps and I succeded!
* Just to share wih you all that the recipe mentioned that roll the dough on the cornflakes but I find that the cornflake may drop easily when you eat it so I crushed the cornflakes and mixed it with the dough. This taste better anyway.

玉米脆片牛油饼干

材料：
牛油 ~ 250g
糖粉 ~ 110g
杏仁碎 ~ 50g
发粉 ~ 1茶匙
普通面粉 ~ 280g
玉米脆片 ~ 适量（稍微按碎）

做法：
1。牛油和糖粉打至发白。
2。加入杏仁碎和面粉搅拌成团。
3。揉小面团放入玉米脆片滚一滚，排放入小纸杯。
4。放入烤箱150° 烘10分钟或金黄色即可。

Chinese New Year Cookies 1 : Savoury Potato Chip Cookies
First of all, HAPPY NEW YEAR 2012 everyone. It's a new year and I grow older now. It is time for me to explore the world on my own but it is not the right time now because Chinese New Year is just in few weeks time. I assume that everyone is starting to be in this festive mood just like me! My father is more exhilarated as he bought a DVD with Chinese New Year songs and started singing it during our stay at JB, that's my father! Anyway and anyhow, school is going to reopen and I hate this but I have no choice but to bake my CNY cookies as soon as possible.

My first batch of CNY cookies - Savoury Potato Chip Cookies
Children may favour this cookie a lot because there are potato chip inside ~~ ! But, if you are bored of the normal cookies you may have during cny just like peanut cookies, butter cookies and lots more, try this out because this is something special and new. It is crispy and salty because there are sour cream potato chip and Parmesan cheese in it so you may reduce the Parmesan cheese if you want something more healthy. So sorry that I like salty food. Hahaha.

薯片曲奇 Savoury Potato Chip Cookies

食谱：（取自新新饮食双月刊， Margaret 老师）

250g 牛油
80g 幼糖
150g 酸奶油及洋葱味薯片，稍微压碎
50g 核桃，切碎
20g Parmersan 芝士粉
250g 面粉，加入1小匙发粉，过筛

将牛油及糖打至松白.
加入薯片，核桃碎和芝士粉.
慢慢加入筛过的粉类，拌匀成团.
将饼干混合料用小匙舀起，放在烘盘上.
放入已预热烤箱，用180'C 烤15分钟或至金黄色.

Second post in a day because I wanted to share this scrumptious muffin here! This is just so simple but turn up really delicious. It is slightly moist and soft, and you can't stop eating it honestly.

香浓巧克力马芬 Nigella's Chocolate Chocolate-Chip Muffins ( 取自 Foodnetwork.com)
（可以做出12个马芬）

面粉 250g
发粉 2tsp
苏打粉 1/2tsp
可可粉 2Tbsp
细糖 175g
巧克力豆 150g
牛奶 250ml
植物油 90ml
鸡蛋 1个
香草精 1tsp

把干的材料，面粉，发粉，苏打粉和可可粉过筛，再和细糖， 3/4的巧克力豆混合一起。
也把液体材料，混合均匀。
把干和湿的材料轻轻地混合一起，记得不要搅拌太久，稍微混合就可以了。
放入烤杯，上面洒上巧克力豆。
然后送入预热200‘C的烤箱，烤20分钟。

* I added some white chocolate chip and instead of black chocolate chip, I chopped some chocolate from chocolate bar into it. The cocoa powder I added a lot into it to flavour it and I didn't even wiegh it!
( Sorry for the ugly muffins, I'm still trying to improve it. :( I will try to get a muffin tray. )

Happy Winter Solstice 2011!

It has been some time that I abandoned my blog. I joined a five days state camp at Kem Alim, Banting and it was totally AWESOME! Although I suffer and struggle quite a lot throughout this camp but like what my senior, Serenity said, I'm proud to say that I manage to go through it!!

We not only enjoy the camp but gain a lot knowledge during the courses to get our proficiency badges. I like the caring for animals the most as I get to learn how to take care them and the vets even brought their dog to our campsite. Honestly, we don't have enough time to study and I think I failed my "Order of St. John" but I will be back next year to get my GRAND PRIOR. I'm just that greedy :).

Despite that, the best part is the obstacle course, I managed to go through it. Before that, I was struggling whether I am able to take the challenge, but I told myself, I should be brave enough to do it. There's one challenge that we are given a rope and we need to hold tightly on it to go across a pool ( Just like Tarzan, hehehe ). Thanks to one of the camp committee who taught me the right way of doing it and I manage to pass it! I was so glad and relieved that I was "safe and sound" unlike some of them who were soaked to their bones.

We learnt team spirit the most as we KSTU live like a family in SCC, we cheer and play games together whereas we from Damansara Utama Division owned the camp too. Koperal Haris and Madam Che were like, DU Division, you all do this, you all do that and some guys from DU even challenged Koperal in the obstacle course. Koperal and Madam said DU might be representing KSTU to perform for next year SCC campfire night. I was like OMG, I can't take this because KSTU has been receiving the best performance for two years continuosly and if we fail to do it, we will feel ashame of it. Anyway, State cadet camp definitely leaves lots of memorable and awesome memories to the rest of my life!

Lastly, Happy Winter Soltstice everyone! 冬至快乐！ (sorry for the late wish) Enjoy eating glutinous rice ball aka tang yuan - the best festive delicacies.

The Saddest Thing Ever

I lost my camera! Oh gosh, this the worst thing. I took lots of pictures at the Japenese Restaurant and I wanted to post it but now I can't anymore. =( I have been searching high and low for it but I totally have no idea where it was. I remember taking picture from my dad's car at night but then when I went back to apartment, I did not check my bag again. On the next day, only I found that I lost it. Haiz.....now I am "cameraless" , even when I went to Singapore Sentosa Resort World on Sat, I can't take any pictures. Arhgh....

On Wednesday, we went out to Johor town because dad's apartment here is right inside the kampung! It isn't convenience to buy things or food but the best part is - it's peaceful and cooling here. You don't need to switch on the fan too! In the morning when I wake up, there will be birds chirping and breezy wind blowing into my room. That's great though! We are currently staying at the Bukit Senang Court, but it is a joke that it isn't "senang" to buy things. However, they have good safety measure. Whenever, dad drive in at the entrance, the guard will look at the driver to make sure that we are the resident here, even the walkway in the apartment have those bars that you push to pass through because it was for the students staying here only. Another part is that you need put your card at the sensor thing to take the lift, and you can only go to the floor you staying, not others. We feel safety here although Johor was always given comment that there's lot of crime here.

Let's talk back to our topic. We went Sutera Mall first and had our breakfast for the second time at the usual stall dad goes. Sutera Mall is a great place for teenagers especially girls to go! You can find trendy stuff here. As now is winter in the othere countries, you can find those furry and long sleeve clothes everywhere. Most of the shops offer clothes at RM 50 for two. Try buying dresses because they worth! I bought one long sleeve dress and a Korean-style skirt. They were special. As the clothes here are MADE IN CHINA, always check before buying it. They may be torn. Try not buying clothes with bad materials, made a wise choice.

Just when we want to leave, there are a crowd outside the newly-opened Subway. I am so curious, what's the matter? Lot of people are queuing outside the shop, just seems that they are having sales. I myself seldom eat Subway sandwiches, but their chocolate chip cookies are really tempting! Then, my mum asked the shop worker when we are choosing clothes, and they said it was the only Subway franchise in Johor. I was like "huh"? The crowd seems like really eager for Subways. She also said that the sandwiches are really delicious.
I can' believe this.

The Little Chef Diary : Oreo Cheesecake

Cheesecake is always my favorite, but I seldom eat them as it can be quite pricey, especially at Secrect Recipe. My mum bought different types of cheesecake and put them in a round shape so we can try different taste of them. I had them during my birthday, and it was absolutely tasty but the chocolate one was just so disgusting for me. I'm not a chocolate lover, neither coffee. Something I like in Secrect Recipe cheesecake is that they have -- oreo and marshmallows!!! It was the best of all but I don't think they still sell the cheesecake with marshmallows anymore, I remember eating this long time ago.

So, I decided to bake my own OREO CHEESECAKE!! It was my first try on cheesecake because I have no idea how to bake a cheesecake. But I have two boxes of cream cheese in my fridge and they best way to clear them off is to bake a cheesecake. They turn up alright but not really tasty, idk why? I try this recipe twice and my cheesecake in burnt on the surface so sorry, there are no pic for it. My cheesecake look so ugly but edible. My first batch of cheesecake was all eaten up by my brother and mother, I did not try even one piece. If you have the ingredients, give this recipe a try!

Oreo乳酪蛋糕　Oreo Cheese Cake (取自孟老师的100道小蛋糕）

A：

奶油（软化） 15g
Oreo饼干（压碎）55g

B：

奶油乳酪 150g
细糖 50g
鲜奶油 85g
低筋面粉 1tsp
蛋黄 1粒
Oreo饼 20g （掰成小块）

长方形模型（18x8x6cm) 铺上铝箔纸。
A材料混合一起，取1/2份量铺在模型，压紧。
奶油乳酪加入细砂糖，以隔水加热的方式，用打蛋器搅拌至无颗粒的光滑状。
加入鲜奶油，用打蛋器搅拌均匀，离开热水。
降温后，加入低筋面粉及蛋黄，用打蛋器搅呈均匀的乳酪糊。
把一半的乳酪糊倒入模型，将掰成小块的Oreo铺在乳酪糊上。
倒入剩余的乳酪糊，再用汤匙将做法（2）的奶油饼干削铺在乳酪糊上面。
最后将长于烤模的铝箔纸向内折盖上乳酪糊表面。
放入预热180'C的烤箱，烘烤约30~35分钟。

Day 2 @ Mongkok, Hong Kong

That night, after we came back from Ocean Park, we were quite tired and it's drizzling so we headed straight back to our guesthouse for a rest. My mum went to buy a roast goose rice and it tasted nice but none of us can differentiate between a duck and a goose. Then, my cousin came from her university to visit us. We had a quick meal at their char chan teng or can be known as a fast food restaurant - Tsui Wah Restaurant 翠華餐廳. My brother had their pork chop rice 猪扒饭. It came in a large portion with tomatoes too. I ate a wan tan mee in soup. It's yummy especially their wan tan is with prawns.Try their toast with condensed milk too. :)

After dinner, we went for a walk around Mongkok. It's busy at night. My cousin brought us for a dessert at this waffle shop. I myself isn't a chocolate lover. The chocolate waffle they served is actually quite special and tasty. It's really rich with chocolate and comes good with vanilla ice-cream. Their waffle have a specialty which is crispy outside but soft inside.

Just to introduce to you all what is 柴鱼片。

I have made this a few days ago and decided to blog on this just because it is tasty and simple. I love it so much so as my brother. I have tried it at Jusco as they started to sell it there after the recent renovation.
I managed to make five piece out of the ingredients and my brother ate two of it, my mother and me each ate one. The leftover we kept in the fridge and my mum added a piece of cheese on it and steamed. It taste different but it's a really tempting dish. Do try it out during this holidays. :)

Japanese Pancake 日式煎饼（取自悠闲的下午茶，有稍微改动）

材料:

低筋面粉 200g
鸡蛋（大） 2x
水 250 ml
泡菜
洋葱末
蒜头碎
酱油
*口味依个人喜好- 可添加猪肉片，虾仁，章鱼（我放了鱼饼）
*由于我配出的面糊太糊了，我增加了面粉的份量

沾料：美乃滋（Mayonnaise），柴鱼薄片（Daiso有售）

方法：
1。将低筋面粉筛入圆锅内，加入两粒鸡蛋及水分，用大蛋器打至成光滑状。
2。在面糊内加入其余的材料以及口味，有筷子拌匀。
3。在不粘锅内放入少许牛油，到入适量面糊，小火煎烤。
4。待周围渐渐凝固后，慢慢地翻面，继续煎烤。
5。煎透后，盛入盘子，涂上一层美乃滋，铺上柴鱼薄片，即可享受了。：）
